Brief History

We offer an individualised learning program based on the Montessori Method, a philosophy which recognises that a child’s physical, social, emotional and intellectual developments are interrelated.

For instance, our classrooms are designed to encourage self-directed learning, with a variety of hands-on materials and activities. We help children develop the habits, attitudes and skills that lead to a lifetime of active thinking.

Our mission is to provide children with a rich and individualised education tailored to support their future success in their local and global communities.

Our school and staff members adhere to high ethical standards based on the shared belief that childhood is a unique and valuable stage of life and that each child, family member, and colleague should be respected for their unique qualities.

This belief is not just a statement, but a practice that is integrated into every aspect of our school, from the way we interact with each other to the way we teach and guide our students. We base our work on knowledge of how children learn and develop, and we recognise that children are best understood and supported in a context of family, culture, community and society.

We have an obligation to provide care and education in a safe, healthy and nurturing environment. Furthermore, we are committed to communicating, collaborating and cooperating with each family.

Bringing home and school together is crucial to foster each child’s development. To meet the diverse needs of individual families, we actively cooperate with agencies responsible for child welfare and we assist families in gaining access to allied professionals.

By specifying standards of excellence for instruction and for the arranged learning environment, the curriculum is designed to help children develop confidence in their ability to learn.

We place a strong emphasis on fostering self-understanding, self-worth and self-discipline in each child. They also begin to gain an understanding and appreciation of the world around them, including individuals different from themselves.

Consistency of Care
Consistency of Care

When children are grouped in similar age levels, the maximum child group sizes and ratios of staff persons align precisely with state licensing requirements. Lead and assistant teachers, who have primary responsibility for a single group of children, ensure a high standard of care.

During the day, we carefully stagger staff schedules to maximize children’s time with their regular teacher and classroom assistant, in strict adherence to state regulations.

To ensure a smooth transition, teachers work with the same students for the entire academic year. Children move to the next age group based on thoughtful consideration of their chronological age, developmental readiness, state licensing requirements, and space availability.

This careful process, which includes gradually increasing time in the new classroom over a week, is designed to make children feel secure and staff confident in our approach.
